This wasn’t the maternity session we had originally planned for Ashley and Reuben. You see, they were supposed to come stay in Kelowna for a bit of a baby Moon before baby arrived and we had plans to do the maternity session while they were here. I was so excited to shoot at their gorgeous Air bnb but thanks to the current travel restrictions at the time, they unfortunately had to cancel their trip, bummer! Luckily I was coming down to the lower mainland for other sessions around that time so we were still able to plan to do a maternity session for them before baby came.
Ashley is one of my very best friends. She is the most kindest and genuine person I know. When we first became friends we found a common love for the show The Hills. We would take turns having sleepovers at each others houses, we would make dinner and drink wine and have the best of time just watching a TV show. Fast forward quote a few years later Ashley would one of my bridesmaids at Brian and I’s wedding 8 years ago and then, when her and Reuben tied the knot I was so honoured when she asked me be a bridesmaid at hers. Ashley is that friend I can go ages without seeing and yet as soon as we are in each others company it’s like no time has passed, everyone needs a friend like Ashley in their lives <3
I will always remember the day Ashley told me she was pregnant. We met up for a dinner date (it was long overdue) we had lots to celebrate, we had just listed our house and Ashleys birthday was coming up. But when it came time to order drinks Ashley didn’t order one, what? We always have wine lol. So I jokingly called her out for not drinking (immediately in my head I thought omg what if she is pregnant and she’s not ready to tell me yet what a jerk I am LOL) sure enough with the biggest smile on her face she says yeah I’m pregnant. I felt the tears well up in my eyes, I had been waiting for this moment to celebrate with her and it was finally here. My best friend was going to be a mom!
A few months later she messaged me to tell me they were having a baby girl!! So freakin excited because you know, all the girly stuff is just so fun to shop for. I can’t wait to meet this sweet baby girl who is so loved already. Even though they are keeping her name TOP SECRET, come on I promise I won’t tell lol (jk we did that with Nixon too lol)
