Spencer Family Adventures | BIG NEWS!!

So we have been keeping a pretty big secret over here for the last few months and I am so excited to finally spill the beans.

ASP has been based out of Mission for 10 years now. I started off taking portraits of family and friends back in 2010 before making things officially official with a Facebook page and website in 2011.

In 2012 I photographed my very 1st solo wedding after only 2nd shooting one or two times. From there I began shooting everything from weddings, to maternity, to babies, to family, etc.

After having my son, Nixon, in 2014 I made the decision to pull back on booking weddings and I switched my focus to photographing families and babies, only taking on a few lucky couples each year.

Fast forward to 2020, oh what a year it has been! We never could have expected what would be in store for us this year, life as we knew it changed! As a photographer and a mom, I did my best to adapt to these changes and continued to focus on photographing those special moments as a family. Documenting that First Year of Life and all the important milestones in life that bring… capturing those beautiful baby bumps, those irreplaceable newborn photos, and then celebrating that first year with a 1st birthday cake smash. These joyful milestones still hold a huge piece of my heart and my business, now that the kids are getting older, I look forward to welcoming new couples to my ASP family! Keep on reading…

I know, I know just to get to it already!

Brian and I bought our first house together a little over 14 years ago, this is the first place I have ever really been able to call my home for so many consecutive years. These walls hold so much of our legacy as a family. We have experienced our highest highs and lowest lows under this roof, we shared a lot of years here as a couple before we FINALLY got engaged lol, then of course married. We brought not one but two babies home to this house and have been lucky to raise those babies here who are now 6 and 3. This home holds all of our most treasured memories as a family so it is bittersweet to finally share we are moving!!

Growing up, I moved around ALOT!! I went to 7 different Elementary schools before grade 5 where I got to finish out elementary before heading off to high school. I promised myself when I had kids of my own I would do my very best to keep them put, especially once they started school. But here we are planning a BIG move a few months into grade one for Nixon. I can’t help but feel a little bit of mom guilt for moving him, even though I feel confident that he will form great friendships at his new school. It brings me back that feeling of constantly being “the new girl” and struggling to find my place with kids to have already formed such solid friendships.

I spent my most of summers as a kid with my family in the Okanagan, so naturally, it has always felt like a second home to me. After high school, before Brian and I officially started dating, we would find ourselves spending weekends together in the Okanagan with friends. Once we started dating we continued our summer trips up there and would make plans on how one day we would love to live in the Okanagan.

Well this summer, after coming home from a week in Penticton we found our selves kid free, having drinks on the patio and we made the BIG decision to list our house and move to..

Have you guessed yet??

THE OKANAGAN!!!!

After months of blood, sweat and tears to get our house ready to sell we are excited our house is officially on the market and we have already found our next family home! We don’t have all the official details just yet but we are well on our way to making this dream into a reality. Once our house sells, it is game on, Okanagan we are coming for you!!

So yes, this means ASP is relocating!! I will be moving my business to the Okanagan BUT don’t worry, I will still be available for sessions and weddings in the lower mainland as well!!

If you already have a session booked with me there is no need to worry, it will be business as usual over the next few months, but moving forward here is what you can expect for ASP once we relocate:

Session Availability

I will still be coming down OFTEN for Sessions and Weddings. As well, I will still be offering popular Mini sessions throughout the year (Summer, Fall, Christmas, etc).

I will do my best to give you all a heads up when I am coming back so you can have the opportunity to book sessions while I am in town. (Make sure you are apart of the VIP FB group as well as the newsletter!) With that being said I highly encourage you to book in ADVANCE! It will be harder for me to accommodate last minute bookings unless I am already heading back to shoot. So please, please plan ahead to avoid disappointment for both of us.

A New Studio Space

DON’T WORRY! I will still be able to offer studio sessions locally. I already have several leads on studio spaces and once things are official I will have studio space lined up in both the Okanagan and the lower mainland for studio sessions!

Come Visit Me!!

Vacationing in the Okanagan? HIT ME UP!!! I would love to photograph you in my new area. I mean come on, have you seen the scenery there?? Eeek I am so excited.

Spread The Word

The best way to support a small business is to share your experience with friends and family. If you have worked with me in the past, I would LOVE to ask you to share my name with family in friends (bonus points if they are in the Okanagan) as well as leave me a review on Google so I can start building my online presence for my new location.

Wow, it feels so good to officially put that out there. I am a bit superstitious when it comes to sharing these kind of things too soon, hence why I didn’t want to share anything until we knew for sure this was going to be a reality. But things are on the up and up and before we know it our house will be sold and our dream home will officially be ours. Please send us all your positive thoughts that our house sells quickly!

Shout out to my boy Jordan Doak Photography for grabbing these photos of us during our summer camping trip to Penticton. Jordan, I’ll be hitting you up next year when you guys come up camping again, so pencil us in for some family photos lol.

Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have about upcoming sessions. I have loved getting to work with all my amazing families over the last 10 years. Thank you for trusting me to document your most treasured memories. Watching your families grow and getting to share in some of the most important moments of your lives has been the most amazing part about this job and even though my postal code is changing I hope you still chose me to document more joyful and timeless memories for your family.

xoxo
