Barefoot Beach Resort for Family Camping & Rustic Weddings

Camping can be a fantastic way to bring the family together. Still, for some, the idea of packing everyone into a tent and roughing it in the woods is a little too adventurous. Barefoot Beach Resort in Penticton, BC is the perfect compromise – camping near a private beach in a comfortable yurt with clean living quarters, full kitchenettes, and indoor plumbing!

You can still make memories hiking, swimming, and cooking over a campfire without the additional stresses that typically accompany traditional camping. Not to mention that the location is so beautiful that it’s also a popular spot for intimate, rustic weddings! Read on to learn a little bit more about Barefoot Beach Resort’s accommodations and specialty weddings.

About Barefoot Beach Resort

Barefoot Beach Resort is the camping family’s dream! Family-owned and operated, the beautiful beach and campground reside on the lovely Skaha Lake. Whether you consider yourselves seasoned campers or just trying out a new adventure, Barefoot Beach Resort is a fantastic spot to enjoy the great outdoors and make lasting memories. Plus, they are proud to be dog-friendly so the whole family can camp together!

Camping

There are two ways to enjoy camping at Barefoot Beach Resort; bring your RV and park long-term (like, all summer long!) or rent out one of their comfortable yurts with modern amenities and comfort.

Their Yurt Village has 15 yurts total, three of which are waterfront. Six of the yurts are studios and can accommodate two people (for a cozy getaway), three are one-bedroom (and sleep four), and another three are two-bedroom (and sleep up to six). Scotty’s Beach House has room for up to seven and is the perfect spot for unobstructed beach views on Barefoot’s private beach.

The yurts all include a kitchenette with a bar fridge, bbq, sink, toaster, coffee maker, and all of the pans, plates, and cutlery you’ll need throughout your stay. They also include TV, cable, and Wi-Fi. For those of us who might not use the word “outdoorsy” to describe ourselves, there is a full three-piece washroom in every yurt, complete with a shower, sink, and toilet.

Make the most of your camping experience with amenities like stand-up paddleboard and bike rentals, beach fire pits, a restaurant and patio, and coin-operated laundry. Plus, the Second Scoop Ice Cream shop and mini-mart for all your vacay-treat desires!! When you’re ready to hit the beach, you can take advantage of private beachfront access for swimming, boating, and sunbathing.

Weddings

Barefoot Beach Resort is not just about family adventure; it’s also the perfect spot for an idyllic, rustic wedding! The site books weddings in May, June, and September, when the property is quieter and more secluded. When you choose Barefoot Beach Resort for your wedding, you’ll also book all three beachfront accommodations (at a discount!), so you and your guests can enjoy a little extra isolation away from the park’s other seasonal guests.

For your wedding, you can either set up an archway and chairs on the sand with the picturesque lake Skaha in the background or say “I do” on the beach stage, only steps from the beach. The resort includes electricity hook-ups and washrooms, so you’ll have all the modern comforts you need to stay comfortable on your wedding day.

For additional rental fees, you can also book the Honey Hut service cabana for cocktail hour or your reception, complete with the freedom to book your own food and liquor vendors, DJ, florist, and more! It’s the perfect spot for an intimate wedding, surrounded by crystal-clear water, towering trees, and lots of blue sky.
